The first word can be the easier or hardest part of writing any blog post. It’s also the most important because it helps your readers understand what you’re trying to say and where you’re going with this.
If the first sentence doesn’t grab their attention, they might not finish reading your entire article and might not share it with their friends either.
The trick, then, is to give your readers just enough information to pique their interest but still leave them wanting more from you…and from there on out, it gets much easier!
Tips for starting to write
Do it often. Write every day, even if you only write a few words. Don’t wait for inspiration or motivation to strike, the more you write, the better your writing will get. Start with an outline and fill in the details as you go along.
Don’t be afraid of mistakes or typos; they happen to everyone, and no one is perfect. Read what you’ve written aloud, use punctuation marks and white space so that it’s easy to read.
And don’t forget to take breaks from time-to-time–a break can help clear up writer’s block and make things easier when returning after that break. Writing can be hard work, but it doesn’t have to be torture!
Lists are good
1) Identify your idea.
2) Write out a one sentence overview of what your idea is. This will help you stay focused and on point.
3) Write out a one page summary of what your idea is, and what it does. This will be the foundation for your eventual business plan.
4) Now you have a good understanding of the basic information about your idea and what it’s supposed to do, but now it’s time to flesh out those details with an expanded summary of 10-12 pages that includes:
-What problem does this solve? –Why are we qualified to solve this problem? -How will we accomplish our mission? -What benefits do our customers get from using our service/product?
Have patience with yourself
It’s normal to be anxious and unsure of yourself when you’re faced with something new. The first word is always the hardest, but it gets easier from there. In fact, once you get started, you’ll find that a lot of the words come naturally.
The more you practice, the better it gets. Believe in yourself and give it your best shot! You can do this. Just try one word at a time. That’s all. Just one word: Yes. How did that feel?
Good! Keep going. Try another one: No. That felt good too, right? No doubt about it, practicing some simple affirmations will change your life for the better and make you feel great about yourself in no time flat.
Use editing tools
As a writer, one of the most difficult parts about writing is getting started. The first word is always hard to find and it’s often the hardest word to write, but the more you practice, the easier it gets. Here are some ways you can get over writer’s block and start writing:
Sit down with a timer set for 20 minutes (or whatever your goal is). Just write as much as you can in that time frame. You might not be able to complete a sentence or paragraph, but just put words on paper and keep going until your timer goes off.
Do something else for five minutes. Clear your head by reading an unrelated passage or doing any other activity that interests you for five minutes.
Write a rough draft first
I remember that when I first started writing, it was hard to figure out what to write about. Now, I’m not sure why it was so difficult in the first place.
I think that’s because the first word is always the hardest. Once you get past that hurdle, everything else just seems easier.
So if you’re a writer who’s struggling with getting words on paper, don’t worry too much! Eventually it will become second nature and you’ll be able to crank out a page like nobody’s business.
Ask friends what you can do better
I’ve been thinking about what I can do better, and I thought that it would be good to ask my friends for their thoughts. Some of the things that people suggested were:
I should make sure to put more photos in the post instead of just the one.
I need to make sure to include a call to action for readers.
My blog posts are too long, so I should break them up into more manageable chunks.
You will need self-discipline to be productive on a daily basis
Self-discipline is the first and most important step in becoming productive. You can only do what you make yourself do, so if you want to become more productive, start by setting up a schedule for yourself.
Start with the small things like getting out of bed, brushing your teeth, or making breakfast. Once these are no longer difficult tasks to complete, tackle larger goals like going for a run or writing an essay for school.
Commit to one task at a time and try not to get distracted by social media or other things that could take your attention away from what you’re working on. It’ll be hard at first but it will get easier as long as you keep at it!
